House Sitting is the perfect travel adventure …

Man and woman with 2 dogsHow would you like to stay on the south coast of England for two months?

What about six weeks in Andalucía, Spain?

Have you wanted to live like a local in a small village in Italy?

Does living in London for a month fit your budget?

Or is a French village more your style?

People always ask, “How do you afford to travel for so long?”

The secret isn’t a suitcase full of cash—it’s the trust of homeowners who welcome us in exchange for looking after their homes, gardens, and pets.

Over the years, we’ve refined every step of the process:

  • Finding the right sits: Where to look, what to watch for, and how to spot the perfect match.

  • 📝 Crafting a profile that stands out: Insider tips on photos, testimonials, and attention to detail.

  • 🔑 Earning homeowners’ trust: From transparent communication to respecting privacy.

  • 🧹 Leaving every home spotless: Maura’s superpower (and our secret to glowing reviews).

  • 📅 Managing back‑to‑back sits: Planning travel days, local adventures, and self‑care without burning out.

All of this—and so much more—is available inside our new book:

Why We Love House Sitting

Since 2016, we have completed over 130 house sits, averaging 271 nights each year. That’s an average of nearly 23 nights each month.

From four years travelling around Europe to a two‑year “home base” in New Zealand during the pandemic—and now settling (for a while) in Brisbane.

We’ve completed over 130 house sits in multiple countries, including nearly 800 nights in Europe.

We’ve stayed in everything from hillside villas in Italy to medieval properties in France to suburban family homes in London.

We have looked after dogs of all shapes and sizes, cats, birds, fish, rabbits and a tortoise.

Have you Considered House Sitting?

House sitting connects homeowners with sitters who live in their homes while the owners are away.

Often, but not always, there are pets to look after.

Sometimes there are gardens to be tended, and mainly no money changes hands.
