Prague Castle District City Walk

Prague Castle District City Walk explores a city that feels lifted straight from a storybook. Cobblestone streets wind past pastel houses and baroque domes beneath terracotta rooftops.

Above it all rises the Castle District, seat of Czech rulers for more than a thousand years. St. Vitus Cathedral’s Gothic spires dominate the skyline, framed by vast castle courtyards and historic halls.

Downhill, Lesser Town reveals grand palaces, ornate churches, and tucked-away gardens. St. Nicholas Church delivers baroque drama, while the Loreto complex offers quieter beauty and chiming bells.

Smaller surprises appear along the way, from Golden Lane’s painted cottages to the defiant colours of the Lennon Wall. Kampa Island provides calm river views and space to pause.

Expect around 5 km / 3 miles of walking, with a steep climb up to Petrov Tower unless you take the funicular.

The east side of the river, including Old Town Square and Charles Bridge, is available by purchasing our other walk – Prague Old Town City Walk.

Prague Old Town City Walk

The Prague Old Town City Walk leads you into a storybook skyline of spires, towers, and domes. At its heart sits the Old Town, a maze of cobbled streets shaped by trade, power, and rebellion. This is where time slows and centuries of history reveal themselves at every turn.

Old Town Square forms the natural hub, framed by pastel façades and Týn Church’s dramatic twin spires. The Astronomical Clock still draws crowds, much as it did in medieval times. Climb the Old Town Hall tower for views over streets once filled with markets and royal processions.

Nearby, the Jewish Quarter offers a moving insight into Prague’s Jewish heritage. Charles Bridge stretches across the river, lined with statues and unforgettable views. The Rudolfinum adds 19th-century grandeur, still alive with music today.

Walk Distance approximately 3.5 km / 2.2 miles with only small inclines.

The west side of the river, including Prague Castle, is available by purchasing our other walk – Prague Castle District City Walk.
