Marseille City Walk

The Marseille city walk explores the famous port city in southern France. It has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding by the Greeks circa 600 B.C. At its heart is the Vieux-Port (Old Port). France’s second-biggest city is rich with more than 1500 years of history.

The city is a wonderful place to walk with many viewpoints overlooking the port or towards other parts of the town.  Highlights of this walk include Cathédrale La Major, Fort Saint-Jean, Palais du Pharo and the walk alongside the Vieux Port.

This walk has a distance of approximately 7.2 km / 4.5 miles with some rises and falls, but easily managed. Be aware the walk up to Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica is a very steep climb of more than 1km, but it is worth every step.
