Have you ever fallen out of love with travel?
Perhaps you had a bad travel experience and it’s put you off.
Maybe you were homesick and wanted to stay put for a little while.
Whatever the reason, we’re about to make you fall in love with travel all over again.
These six reasons should hopefully see you booking your next flight and seeing the world once more.
Exploring the Roads less Travelled
If you’ve been put off of travel thanks to bustling tourist traps, then perhaps it’s time to explore the roads less travelled.
We have a whole guide to must-see destinations in Italy that aren’t the usual recommendations, for example.
We love getting off the beaten path and seeing places that you don’t have to queue for hours to get into.
The next time you book a trip, consider looking for places that you don’t find in every single guide book.
If you’re feeling a little out of love with travel, try broadening your horizons to some of the hidden gems this planet has to offer instead.
Different Cultures
There is something so fascinating when it comes to learning about different cultures.
If you head to some of those hidden gems we mentioned earlier, you may find yourself immersed in a whole new culture.
Head to the Air Guitar World Championships in Northern Finland, take part in Nyepi – a 24 hour period of silence – in Bali, watch thousands of rice paper lanterns float up in the sky during Yi Peng in Chiang Mai, or just go on a cheese-rolling adventure in Gloucester, England.
Experiencing other cultures and traditions will make you fall in love with travel again.
Culinary Delights
Food and travel go hand in hand – in fact, The Secret Traveller blog by 1Cover has a list of cuisine that’s worth booking a flight for Bluff Oysters in New Zealand, Tacos el Pastor in Mexico, Nasi Lemak in Malaysia, and even a proper Spaghetti Carbonara in Italy.
Sure, you could head to a local restaurant and hope that what they serve is authentic enough, but nothing beats eating a country’s culinary delights where they originated.
Meet the Locals
We’re lucky enough to meet plenty of locals when we’re house sitting around the world – and it really makes for an incredible travel experience.
They’ll let you know where the best places to eat are, where to visit that’s off the beaten track and a whole lot more. Some might even invite you in to try some home-cooked food.
Meeting the locals is such a big part of the travel experience and is far nicer than rubbing shoulder with fellow tourists all of the time.
Who knows, you might even make some new friends for life!

Unique Ways to Travel
Travelling has come a long way in recent years, meaning there are so many unique ways to see the world nowadays.
Whether you want to Interrail through Europe, campervan your way across America, or motorbike across Africa, the choices are endless.
It’s not just about how you get to your destination either, the accommodation has come a long way too.
Whether you want to house sit, stay in a treehouse, or rent someone’s apartment on Airbnb, there’s something for everyone.
Travel and Technology
Finally, technology has made travel so much more accessible in this day and age, which is yet another reason to fall in love with it again.
Perhaps you fell out of love because you got lost? There’s an app for that!
Maybe you don’t like not being able to speak the language of wherever you go? There’s an app for that, too.
At the risk of sounding like an Apple or Samsung advert, technology has made it easier to travel for sure.
Just make sure you balance your time between staring at your translation app and seeing the beauty of the world in front of you.
